Rail Mechanical Technician – Passenger Doors

HRC, in partnership with UGL Rail Services and Mitsubishi Electric Australia, is delivering the New Intercity Fleet (NIF) project for Transport for NSW. The initiative provides state-of-the-art passenger-door systems and ensures reliable operation across the network.

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Automotive Mechanic or equivalent
  • 3–5 years’ mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in rail, automotive or aviation
  • Proficiency in fault-finding and repair of electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and maintenance manuals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adherence to safety procedures
  • Set up, maintain and adjust NIF passenger-door mechanisms (alignment, lubrication, sensor calibration)
  • Diagnose faults using diagnostic tools and implement corrective repairs
  • Conduct functional tests to verify door operation, obstacle detection and emergency release
  • Document work performed, parts used and test results accurately
  • Participate in commissioning activities and continuous-improvement initiatives
