Rail Mechanical Technician – Passenger Doors

Eveleigh, NSW, Australia

HRC, in partnership with UGL Rail Services and Mitsubishi Electric Australia, is delivering the New Intercity Fleet (NIF) project for Transport for NSW. The initiative provides state-of-the-art passenger-door systems and ensures reliable operation across the network.

Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Automotive Mechanic or equivalent
3–5 years’ mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in rail, automotive or aviation
Proficiency in fault-finding and repair of electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and maintenance manuals
Strong problem-solving skills and adherence to safety procedures

Set up, maintain and adjust NIF passenger-door mechanisms (alignment, lubrication, sensor calibration)
Diagnose faults using diagnostic tools and implement corrective repairs
Conduct functional tests to verify door operation, obstacle detection and emergency release
Document work performed, parts used and test results accurately
Participate in commissioning activities and continuous-improvement initiatives
